Legal translation:

Various projects I have worked on as a translator often represent high profile legal matters or complex legal transactions.  I have translated documents that cover the following fields of law or practice areas:

  • Corporate and Commercial Law:
  • Corporate Governance and Business Organization
  • Contracts, Contract Law and Contractual Interpretation
  • Financial and Business Regulations
  • Investments
  • Banking, Financing and Lending
  • Securities, Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Insurance Law
  • Taxation
  • Energy Regulations, Oil and Gas and Related Matters
  • Software and Advanced Technology Development Issues
  • Entertainment/Media Law
  • International Trade
  • Litigation and Arbitration, Dispute Resolution
  • Family Law
  • Personal Injury
  • Labour Relations
  • Real Estate and Municipal Law
  • Government Policies and Legislation
  • Among the legal documents I have worked on were contracts and agreements (loan/pledge agreements, lease agreements, mortgage agreements, shareholder agreements, license agreements, and even personal prenuptial agreements or, of course, fairly basic purchase and sale contracts etc.), information forms and corporate policies, articles of association and corporate charters, partnership documents of association, corporate minutes and resolutions; complaints, motions, answers, affidavits, briefs and legal opinions, numerous court rulings, judgements and awards of the courts of various instances of the Russian judicial system, other types of court and court-related documentation; wills and estate planning documentation; documents in support of various transactions; medical consent forms; bylaws, laws and proposed legislation.

While I am fully bilingual and equally fluent in both languages, English and Russian, English has become the language I use primarily in the daily life, the language I would strongly prefer to choose while reading, watching movies or news, for casual correspondence etc., in a majority of ways effectively my first language.  The language in the document you will receive will always be fully in line with "native speaker" standards and expectations; while my skills in Russian and, accordingly, being able to fully understand all details in the Russian source will help to make sure that no nuances will ever be missed, mistranslated or misunderstood.

And, while I do specialize primarily in legal translation, my expertise is not limited to this field only.  Not to mention various non-legal projects I have worked on, even legal documentation per se may often be accompanied by other documents that are not strictly of the legal nature in terms of the terminology used etc., and which may vary from highly technical descriptions to accounting records to just general emails.

Based on a variety of documents I have worked with during my career as a translator, in summary I can add that I can offer services in the following areas:
