I have a university
degree in translation and over 15 years
professional experience as a translator, which includes in-house work
with a large US law firm and other companies in
Moscow, Russia, and years
of successful
freelance work in Canada where I live since 2001. On an everyday
basis I am actively exposed to and regularly use two languages, English
and Russian, where Russian is my first or native
language and my proficiency in English is close to a native
speaker's
level.
I have all equipment in order to
work at a distance, i.e. 24 hour high speed cable Internet access
along with a dial-up backup connection,
up-to-date software
and fast and reliable computers.
Of course, I work in full compliance with all local permit/registration
requirements as
an
individual translator. To ensure
consistency, in my work I use translation memory and terminology
software
(SDL Trados 2006 / SDLX).
The list of my clients includes large international law firms,
reputable
translation agencies, well-known non-for-profit organizations. In
2005 I have been approved as a supplier listed to provide translation
services to the Government of Alberta and earlier, in 2002, to the
Government of Canada, through the Translation Bureau, Public Works and
Government Services in Ottawa. Some of the projects I have
recently worked
on as a freelance translator represent
high-profile legal cases with internationally known participants, where
I translated hundreds of documents, both English to Russian and Russian
to English, often with very tight deadlines. In my work I always
strive to provide accurate and faithful translations of consistently
high quality - as we all understand the importance of correct
translations for successful outcome of any legal
matter.
